A comprehensive psychological assessment is the cornerstone of all therapeutic services at OMID. These evaluations provide a structured, evidence-based approach to understanding each individual's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning, forming the foundation for accurate diagnosis, personalized intervention, and accommodations.
Accessibility and Affordability
We recognize that comprehensive psychological assessments are often financially challenging, with typical costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 or more. At OMID, we strive to make these essential services accessible by offering affordable care, as we believe that financial constraints should not hinder access to quality mental health support.
A Holistic and Respectful Approach
We understand that a diagnosis is not a label that defines a person, but rather a clinical tool that identifies clusters of symptoms to guide treatment. Our goal is to help clients make sense of their challenges while emphasizing that people are inherently complex, resilient, and far more than any single diagnosis. By identifying areas of functioning that are most impacted, we can better support clients in understanding their needs and obtaining appropriate interventions and accommodations.
Multicutural Sensitivity in Assessment
Guided by a multicultural framework, our assessments recognize the impact of cultural, linguistic, and contextual factors. We carefully select tests that take into account cultural differences compared to normed populations, ensuring that each evaluation accurately reflects the unique experiences and backgrounds of our clients. We offer a wide range of evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults, always prioritizing cultural responsiveness and individualized care.
Who Can Request an Evaluation?
Assessments may be requested through referrals from schools, disability offices, medical professionals, therapists, or other service providers. Individuals are also encouraged to schedule an initial consultation with any of these providers and obtain a referral while they are placed on our testing waitlist.
What to Expect
Our evaluation process is collaborative, comprehensive, and tailored to each individual. It typically includes the following steps:
- Initial Intake
A one-on-one consultation to better understand your concerns, goals, and personal history as it relates to testing concerns. - Testing Sessions
Conducted over one or more appointments depending on the type of evaluation. Total testing time can range from 5 to 15 hours, spread across 2 to 5+ sessions. The initial intake can help us determine a better estimate of total hours and sessions required. - Collateral Interviews (required for some evaluations)
We gather additional information from parents, partners, teachers, treatment providers, and others who know you well. This helps us gain a fuller understanding of your challenges and life history—especially during early development—and strengthens the validity of our conclusions and recommendations. - Scoring, Interpretation, Report Writing & Review
Your results are carefully scored and interpreted by our team, with all reports reviewed in detail by licensed psychologists and clinical supervisors to ensure accuracy and quality. - Feedback Session
A collaborative meeting to walk you through our findings, offer clear explanations, and provide tailored recommendations for next steps. - Written Report
A detailed and professionally written document that can be shared with schools, medical providers, or others involved in your care or advocacy.
