
Dr. Ali Kavianian is former surgeon-in-chief at Choc Children's hospital of Orange County. He has 55 years of medical practice to his credit. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Tehran School of Medicine. He continued his postdoctoral education in the United States and completed 4 years of residency in general surgery in New York and then 3 years of residency in pediatric surgery at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, he then returned to Iran and was appointed as chief of surgery at Tehran Children's Medical Center Tehran University until 1982 when he emigrated to the United States.
Dr. Kavianian started his practice of pediatric surgery in Orange County as an attending surgeon at CHOC Childrens, he was promoted to chief surgery section and then chair department of surgery and subsequently became surgeon-in-chief which he kept until his retirement in 2011.
Dr. Kavianian continued his practice as a part time attending at Loyola University Medical Center(2011-2018). Dr. Kavianian has academic position as clinical associate professor of surgery at University of California Irvine, School of Medicine. He has been a member of medical staff at Hoag Memorial Hospital, St Joseph Hospital, Mission Viejo and Fountain Valley Hospitals. He is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons, member of American Pediatric Surgical Association(APSA) and Pacific Pediatric Surgical Association. His community service includes Board membership at Iranian Cultural Center of Orange County (1987-2002).
